PF2e Hazard XP Calculator
Add traps, haunts, and hazards to your PF2e encounter budget. Hazard XP in Pathfinder 2e uses the same level-based system as creatures - a simple trap of the party's level contributes 40 XP, just like a standard monster. Build mixed encounters combining creatures and hazards, or use the encounter calculator for creature-only encounters.

How Hazard XP Works
In PF2e, both simple hazards (traps, terrain) and complex hazards (haunts, multi-round dangers) contribute to the encounter XP budget the same way as creatures - based on their level relative to the party. Use the same XP table as creatures (level −4 to +4).

PF2e Hazard XP Rules - How It Works
In Pathfinder 2e, hazards contribute XP to encounter budgets just like creatures. A simple hazard (a single triggered trap) grants XP equal to a creature of the same level. A complex hazard - one that has a full initiative and acts each round - grants XP equal to a creature four levels higher than its listed level.
Use the hazard encounter builder for mixed encounters with both monsters and environmental dangers. For a dungeon room with a pit trap (simple hazard, party level) and two guards (level -1 each), the total XP budget correctly sums all three entries. The tool automatically applies party size adjustments.
The Difficulty Class of a hazard's effects is set by its level - use the DC reference table to find the right DC for Reflex saves, Perception checks to detect the hazard, and Thievery checks to disable it.
