PF2e Treasure & Item Budget Rules - How It Works
Pathfinder 2e uses a Party Treasure by Level table (GM Core) to ensure characters can afford level-appropriate gear as they advance. Each level has a target total value in gold pieces, split across permanent items (armor, weapons, wondrous items), consumables (potions, scrolls, ammunition), and raw currency.
The table assumes a party of 4 players. For each additional player, add one permanent item and one consumable of the appropriate level. For each missing player, subtract the same. The generator above handles this automatically when you adjust party size.
Permanent items should generally be at the party's current level or one level below. Consumables can span a wider range. Spread treasure across the full level (not just end-of-arc) to give players meaningful choices during play. Track when the party is ready to level up with the XP tracker.
